Marital Agreements: in culture, in English law and for international families

I was invited to speak, remotely, at a conference for family lawyers in China on marital agreements.  A couple of thousand apparently attended online.  It was a real privilege.  But rather than look only at what is English law, I tried to put it into a cultural perspective with specific emphasis on the actual and inherent gender imbalance in how domestic agreements are reached and how they can be quite unfair to the vulnerable party.  I also covered what we must do for more marital agreements to be upheld for international families as undoubtedly they want.  It does require independent legal advice and disclosure to give confidence to the arrangements.  Here is my PowerPoint.
